Increasing focus by reducing distractions
Learning online can present challenges with student focus and engagement. To improve the online live learning experience for your child and for the whole class, consider the following.
- Reduce noise: loud TVs, conversations, and other background noise can interrupt learning. Please reduce any noise that can be a distraction during live learning. When your child is sharing with the class, the computer mic picks up noise easily and the whole class can hear!
- Consider setting up a quiet and clutter-free workspace that is comfortable for your child. Objects, toys, and clutter can be a distraction for kids. Organized spaces help reduce stress and increase engagement.
- Be prepared! Help your child set up their learning space every night so it is ready for our 8:30am start. Create a quick checklist that can include making sure devices are charged and whiteboard, notebooks, and pencils are ready for live learning time.

Friday October 9th is a professional development day for teachers – there will be no school for students.
Digital Citizenship Video
Here is a short video about digital citizenship that aligns with our school-wide expectations of being safe, kind, and responsible. Please take the time to view the video and discuss digital citizenship with your child. Also, we have communicated with students that the chat and call feature in Microsoft Teams is to be used only during live learning class time with teacher directions. Please help support us by communicating this expectation with your child at home.

Beginning of the year assessments
K/1 teachers are going to do 1:1 literacy and math assessments with your child. Your teacher will be contacting you about when they will be scheduled. Some small groups will be cancelled to accommodate 1:1 assessment time.
Please remember that for the teachers to have a clear picture of what kinds of supports your child will need, please do not help them with the answer during the screener. This will make sure your child gets the best support for their individual learning needs.
Free meals available to pick up at school
Everyday from 11:15-1:15 families can pick-up free breakfast, lunches, and frozen dinners. The meal pick-up is outside on 13th near the playground.

考虑为孩子建立一个安静、整洁、舒适的学习环境。物品、玩具和杂物会分散孩子的注意力。有条理组织的空间有助于减少压力，提高参与度。
做好准备!每天晚上帮助你的孩子布置他（她）们的学习空间，这样我们就可以在8:30 am开始上课了。创建一个快速列表，包括确保学习设备充电，白板、笔记本和铅笔为实时学习做准备。

Como incrementar la atención, reduciendo distracciones alrededor
El aprendizaje en línea puede presentar desafíos en el enfoque y la participación de los estudiantes. Para mejorar la experiencia de su hijo en vivo y en línea y para toda la clase, considere lo siguiente.
- Reducir el ruido: alto volumen de la televisión, conversaciones y otros ruidos de fondo pueden interrumpir el aprendizaje. Reduzca cualquier ruido que pueda ser una distracción durante el aprendizaje en vivo. Cuando su hijo está compartiendo con la clase, el micrófono de la computadora capta el ruido fácilmente y toda la clase puede escuchar.
- Considere la posibilidad de crear un lugar de trabajo tranquilo y ordenado que sea cómodo para su hijo. Los objetos, los juguetes y el desorden pueden ser una distracción para los niños. Los espacios organizados ayudan a reducir el estrés y aumentan el nivel de compromiso.
